Unlocking Intelligent Material Flow with Malaysia’s AI Fork AMR

Introduction: Engineering Intelligence Into Forklift Automation

The PX33M Fork AMR represents a new class of intelligent autonomous forklifts engineered in Malaysia and co-developed with Dallas Roboter Inc. Designed for high-accuracy pallet handling and continuous industrial operation, the PX33M is now deployed at a major Malaysian sanitaryware manufacturer to automate the transfer of finished-goods box pallets. This deployment demonstrates the robot’s capability to perform safely, consistently and efficiently in a manufacturing environment with demanding logistics and tight aisle constraints.

AI-Enhanced Perception for Real-World Warehouse Conditions

At the core of the PX33M is an AI-driven perception system that processes data from multiple sensing layers, including 3D TOF cameras and safety-rated LiDAR. This combination allows the AMR to detect low-lying obstacles, irregular box stacks, stray packaging and reflective floor conditions common in sanitaryware plants. The AI continuously adjusts pathing, speed profiles and safety envelopes, ensuring smooth and safe navigation without compromising throughput.

Mixed Navigation Architecture for High-Precision Fork Control

The PX33M utilises a hybrid navigation framework that integrates SLAM laser localisation with vision-based fork alignment. This enables the AMR to achieve millimetre-level precision during pallet pickup and placement. The system automatically compensates for glossy epoxy floors, fluctuating lighting, and the reflective ceramic surfaces typical of sanitaryware storage areas. Every task cycle is executed with repeatable accuracy, reducing dependency on manual forklifts.

Purpose-Built Handling for Finished-Goods Box Pallets

The sanitaryware industry demands careful handling of high-value boxed products that are vulnerable to impact, vibration or tilting. The PX33M is engineered to transport finished-goods box pallets up to 1500 kg while maintaining load stability through intelligent acceleration and deceleration curves. Its compact chassis enables it to operate efficiently within aisle widths as narrow as 2200 mm, providing seamless integration with existing warehouse infrastructure.

Comprehensive 360-Degree Safety Architecture

Safety is a fundamental requirement in mixed environments where human operators, forklifts and AMRs operate concurrently. The PX33M incorporates four safety-rated LiDAR units positioned to provide complete 360-degree coverage. These sensors dynamically adjust the safety fields based on operating speed, fork height and movement direction. This real-time adaptation ensures that the AMR maintains full compliance with industrial safety standards while maximising operational efficiency.

High-Efficiency Energy System for Continuous Operation

To support extended production cycles and high outbound volumes, the PX33M is designed with a fast-charge energy system. A 60-second rapid boost charge can extend operational availability, while a full recharge cycle of approximately 1.5 hours delivers up to six hours of continuous runtime. Quick-swap battery capability ensures that the AMR remains operational across multiple shifts, reducing downtime during peak manufacturing periods.

Industrial Durability for Malaysian Manufacturing Environments

Sanitaryware facilities present challenges such as dust from glazing, humidity from curing processes, and reflective ceramic finishes. The PX33M is built with sealed electronics, strong ingress protection, and robust traction control suitable for coated or polished flooring. Its design minimises crevices and exposed surfaces, making cleaning and maintenance more efficient while ensuring long-term durability in Malaysian industrial conditions.

Deployment Impact: Improved Flow, Safety and Productivity

Since its deployment, the PX33M has significantly improved material flow between the packaging, inspection and dispatch zones of the Malaysian facility. Automated pallet movements have reduced forklift congestion, lowered the risk of product damage, and increased consistency across outbound logistics. These improvements highlight the capability of Malaysian-engineered AMR systems to meet global industrial standards.
